Forget the quiet uneventful life
Avoiding all pain disruption and strife
Impermanence is part of every living being
Constantly changing invading disagreeing.
You can dream all you like in your suburban hole
Wash the car at the weekend think you’re in control
Take a stroll in the park watch the dogs at play
Smelly sex in the dark roast beef on a Sunday.
Defending your existence with meaningless quips
Marching for the NHS in your replacement hips
Discussing immigration with your next door neighbour
Convinced everyone is in constant danger.
Delusion is rife it’s everywhere you go
People smiling, plotting conniving, putting on a show
Pretending everything is fine hiding under a tree
It’s just another news headline nothing to do with me.
You carry on as normal in your shallow little head
Fear appears once again so you retreat back to bed
Crying inside you get off the ride it’s driven you insane
Impermanence calls for the final time so ends the evil game.
